چکیده

The intravenous administration of emulsified fat in concentrations suitable for nutritional purposes is not applicable for clinical use because an emulsion stabilizer free of undesirable effects has not yet been developed. Pending the availability of a satisfactory stabilizer, the possibility of parenteral administration of fat by other routes deserves further exploration. Data reported on the absorption and distribution of fat given subcutaneously, intramuscularly and intraperitoneally to animals (1-6) are equivocal or conflicting largely because of the inadequacy of the quantitative analytical methods used. Fat labelled with a radioactive element can be traced and measured with considerable accuracy. While fat labelled with radioactive carbon (C14) (7) or deuterium (8) is ideal, the measurement in tissue is more difficult than that of fat labelled with radioactive iodine. Although iodized fat is unnatural, its digestion, absorption and metabolic fate after oral and parenteral administration is said to simulate closely that of natural fat (9-15). Since iodine is liberated relatively slowly from iodized fat (16), it should, if radioactive, be useful to follow the absorption and immediate distribution of fat, once it enters the circulation. Accordingly, an emulsion of fat labelled with radioactive iodine was prepared with Demal 14 2 in order to determine with reasonable accuracy, (1) the absorption and distribution of fat introduced subcutaneously or intraperitoneally, and (2) the distribution of radioactive fat emulsions introduced intravenously. This communication presents a method for the preparation of radioactive fat, to-

Introduction: Recently, soft tissue augmentation has become popular due to its simple usage. Autologous fat is one the safest fillers for this purpose. On the other hand, healing effects of autologous platelet gel on acute and chronic human skin wounds have been shown in some recent studies and there are some preliminary evidences in this subject. Therefore, in this study the effect of subc...

The Effect of Aerobic Training and Adenosine on the Expression of SREBP-1C and A1 Receptor in Hepatic Fat-fed Rats

Background and Objectives: Few studies have examined so far the effect of adenosine receptors’ injection and its downstream pathway on the liver’s fat metabolism. The aim of this study was to investigate the type of aerobic exercise and adenosine on the expression of sterol regulatory binding protein 1c SREBP-1c and the adenosine receptor A1 in the liver in the rats fed with high-fat foods. Radioactive Fat Absorption Patterns

ATHEROSCLEROSIS and its accompany18x ing vascular lipoidosis has been linked to an inborn error in fat metabolism. The observations that atheroselerosis and hypercholesterolemia frequently coexist,l 2 that both can be produced in animals following cholesterol feedings,3 and that atherosclerosis is unusual when people eat little animal fat, favor this concept.4-5 The unusual physical state and t...

Total gastrectomy is one of the most common operative procedures for gastric malignancy, but therecommended method of gastrointestinal reconstruction after gastrectomy is still controversial. Significantweight loss has been noted by many observers following gastrectomy. The Roux-en-Y method is the mostfrequent reconstructive technique performed after gastrectomy. This technique is easy to perfo...
